First International Neuroscience Student Festival was held at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, WEBDA reported. The participants from Mashhad University of Medical Sciences as well as Münster University in Germany sought to promote interaction between the two universities in order to improve cognitive sciences.Prior to the festival, German students and professors visited city of Mashhad. Medical Student at Neuroscience Department in Medical Faculty and an executive official at the festival Amir-Hossein Heidari said, “We attempt to turn Mashhad into a Neuroscience center.” “There is a good interaction between students at the department, a matter that can result in reputable accomplishments in Neuroscience.” The festival mostly attended by German students sought to create a strong relationship between students at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences and German students. “As a result, we hope that more scientific accomplishments in Neuroscience can be achieved.” “Mehr Baran Charity Center aided students at the festival to sell traditional and fast-cooking meals so as to help patients with Multiple Sclerosis in Mashhad.” “Furthermore, handicrafts were visited by foreign guests so that they might get familiar with the Iranian customs and culture. German students happily visited Mashhad and interacted with the Iranian students.” “160 posters were provided and five speeches were made by Iranian participants and four by foreign students. Also, certain workshops were held by two top Iranian and German professors at the conference.” The workshops were on stem cells and Multiple Sclerosis; they were attended by Dr. Pavak, Professor Muit, Dr. Sahab, and Dr. Sahraeian. Head of Neuroscience Department at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences Professor Gorji said that student festivals would aid students to become scientifically powerful in Neuroscience within the next 10 years. “Primary goal of the festival was to yield good relationship and scientific interaction between Iranian and German students,” Professor Gorji noted. “All our students, Iranian and German ones, are good and they should be valued to be successful. Giving more time to the students, professors ought to identify their talents as well as their motivations.” “We want to erase the conditions where students do research yet in their papers, professors’ names are registered. We are seeking to assure students that they will scientifically be honored due to their research,” Professor Gorji maintained. On the sidelines of the conference, German students became familiar with Neuroscience equipment at Mashhad’s Medical Faculty. Also, Neuroscience Research Center as well as Cell Culture Laboratory were visited by these students and they were given some reports on the conditions of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in Neuroscience. Lisai Ping, PhD student at Biology and a student in Professor Muit’s team, said, “Initially, I had stress, however, acquiring information on Iran, I welcomed coming here.” Referring to scientific blossoming in Iran, she noted, “As I had guessed, Iran is advanced in Neuroscience and this is clear at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.” “Certain devices like Electrophysiology and other equipment in Neuroscience Department at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences are competing with those in Germany.” He said, “Mashhad’s people are so hospitable and they nicely welcomed us. I wish I could to go to other cities in Iran including Tehran.” Christian Thomas, Neurology resident at Münster University, noted, “I am in Iran for the second time as I have already visited Isfahan, Tehran, and Shiraz as a tourist.” “Mashhad is a new experience and I am so content as I was greatly welcomed by Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.” “Neuroscience Department at the university is well equipped and Electrophysiology alongside Behavior Therapy are good clues on scientific power of the department.” “There is a great space for Neuroscience students to be active in their field at Mashhad’s Neuroscience Department. Whereas, in Germany, despite the fact that many groups are active in Neuroscience, there is less space for the students.” “Given that there is scientifically a common background between Iranian and German students, student festivals could be useful in creating good relationships between them and this short visit could flourish into long-term visits.” “I hope to visit Imam Reza Shrine as I have never been there,” Thomas concluded. | {mp3remote}http://www.mums.ac.ir/newmums/images/Podcasts/Reports/may2017/A Report on Presence of German Students at Mashhads Medical Faculty.mp3{/mp3remote}
