Dr. Sheikh Pediatric Hospital
Dr. Sheikh Hospital
About the Hospital
Dr. Sheikh Educational, Research, and Treatment Center (Sarvar Pediatric Subspecialty Center) is a dedicated tertiary pediatric hospital operating under Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (MUMS). With 150 active inpatient beds, the hospital provides specialized and subspecialized 24/7 medical, surgical, and intensive care to infants and children across Eastern Iran.
The center’s origins date back to 1951 (1330), when Clinic No. 2 was established over a 5,638-square-meter parcel of land to address communicable diseases. In 1989 (1368), an agreement was signed to construct a dedicated pediatric center on the grounds of Dr. Sheikh Hospital. Following completion, the facility was officially donated to the Medical Sciences University of Khorasan in 1996 (1375). Named in honor of Dr. Morteza Sheikh (1907–1976)—a revered physician known for his lifelong humanitarian service to underserved populations—the hospital has expanded through key infrastructure developments, including the Sarvar Pediatric Specialized Clinic and the Sarvar Foundation developments.
Today, Dr. Sheikh Hospital serves as an academic referral center for pediatric medicine, housing Eastern Iran’s specialized pediatric peritoneal dialysis center and serving as a regional center for pediatric hematology and oncology care.
