Laboratory-based Diagnosis and Treatment of Diseases

According to WEBDA, Dr. Simin Hiradfar, congradulating on the occasion of the National Laboratory Sciences Day, April 18, said: “Laboratory sciences have always been the foundation of scientific research and have a special place in Iran’s healthcare system.”

Supervisor of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences’ Reference Laboratory noted: “A great proportion of diagnosis and treatment of the diseases is based on laboratories’ performance, and people involved play a major role in diagnosis, care, control and prevention of various diseases.

Clinical and anatomical pathologist and member of faculty of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences mentioned 218 governmental, private, and charity laboratory centers in areas covered by the university and added: “Some of the achievements in the recent year include: protection of civil rights of clients refering to medical laboratories, increase in establishment of required tests by continious monitoring in alignment with the health system reform plan, quality improvement of govermental and private laboratories’ services, and enhancement of the tests’ referal system in order to achieve the health system reform plan.”

Mentioning the establishment of a laboratory network within the university, Dr. Hiradfar said: “Within this plan, all governmental laboratories are connected through network and the service is provided to patients by map service planning.”

Head of the Department of Khorasan Razavi’s Laboratories said: “Based on this plan, in case a service is not provided in a governmental laboratory, the patient will be referred to another governmental laboratory providing the service through this network.”

Dr. Simin Hiradfar also pointed out: “This plan has been implemented according to the health system reform plan, significantly reducing referral to private centers, and in case of referral, the services are provided with governmental subsides.”
