“NIMAD” Calls for Principal Research Grant Proposals

National Institute for Medical Research Development (NIMAD) issued the 5^th call for Principal research grant proposals.

According to Webda, Office of Vice President for Research of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences announced that proposals for Principal Grants should be at a higher level than common university research and related to the subjects specified by NIMAD committees in their priority lists.

Proposals for assessing the efficacy and side effects of compounds (either chemical or herbal) must have been evaluated at the preliminary level (enzymes, cells, animal models, etc) in universities, and the proposal submitted to the Institute should be designed on the basis of those results.

In case of projects carried out with the participation of international organizations and institutions, the stages to be implemented in Iran and the national benefits to be gained should be fully and clearly explained. Proposals having international or national support will earn higher scores (if legal documentation is provided).

Proposals previously rejected may be re-submitted only if their changes and updates (addressing referees’ comments at “full proposal” stage, in particular) are clearly and fully explained in a separate file. Otherwise, they will be suspended and will not proceed to the next levels of evaluation.

Each applicant can submit only one request (for Principal or Young Researcher Grant) in each cycle of call for proposals, and only if they are not having an approved project (under a Principal or Young Researcher Grant) in progress.

The principal researcher must be either residing in Iran (their workplace located in Iran) or be an Iranian researcher residing abroad who is affiliated with one of the Iranian universities of medical sciences.
