The Second Natural Painless Childbirth Carried Out Using Hypnosis

Faculty member of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences and secretary to Iranian Society of Hypnosis said: “the second childbirth in Iran using hypnosis method was carried out successfully in Mashhad.

According to WebDa, Dr. Mahdi Fathi said: “in her first labor, a 27-year-old mother gave birth to her child under supervision of gynecologist Dr. Ghodsieh Alavi, faculty member of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, and the attending physician, in Bentolhoda Hospital of Mashhad”.

Pointing that the mother and the baby are perfectly healthy, associate professor of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences said: “in this method, preparing the pregnant mother to induce painless labor and mental imaging began a month earlier and the mother, as lying on the bed, imagines herself walking with her child in the nature”.

He said: “when uterine contractions begin, the patient contributes to the process of labor in full consciousness”.

“Mashhad”, added Dr. Fathi, “is the hub of hypnosis therapy in Iran and 2 labors have been carried out using hypnosis in Sina and Bentolhoda hospitals in Mashhad”.

He noted that hypnosis as a painless childbirth method has been used during the past 30 years and has many advantages.

Associate professor of anesthesia in Mashhad University of Medical Sciences went on to say that using hypnosis in labor causes natural childbirth pains to drop by 80 to 100 percent.

He said: “the slogan of the World Health Organization is ‘no mother should suffer any pain in the maternity hospital’”.

“Painless labor, drug free labor, inducing painlessness after the labor and reducing the patient’s stress are advantages to using hypnosis in natural labor that has no side effects”, he added.

Dr. Fathi stated: “giving birth using hypnosis requires experienced doctors and midwives, the patient should choose this method and the doctor should also apply the method”.

He announced that 7000 doctors, dentists, midwives, gynecologists, nurses and psychiatrists have been trained in the field of hypnosis therapy; he said: “of this number, 200 people are midwives and about 50 ones are gynecologists”.
