The Health Center Accreditation Conference

Health Center Accreditation Conference Held and Hosted by

Mashhad University of Medical Sciences

The conference of country’s headquarter region 9 health and treatment centers was held for one day at Ibn-e-Sina (Avicenna) Hall of Mashhad with the presence and participation of 300 hospital managers, nursing presidents and hospital evaluation specialists from Northern, Razavi and Southern Khorasan Provinces hosted by Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.

According to WebDa, in his speech in this conference, the executive deputy of accreditation general manager in Ministry of Health, Hygiene and Medical Education, Mr. Nader Asgari said: the relation with the patient is one of the important orientations in the new generation of accreditations in the country’s health centers and hospitals.

“The new generation of health center accreditation is communicated on July 9th this year with full support and approval of the minister of health and hygiene”, Mr. Asgari added.

He pointed out that: accreditation standards which are indicative of the level of practice and performance in an organization, which is here a hospital, include a collection of dimensions and determining factors and criteria to accredit a service.

“The new accreditation standards of the Ministry of Health and Hygiene are compiled in the framework of 247 standards, 903 benchmarks and eight orientations. These standards generally process the details and dimensions of a hospital including infrastructures, procedures, programs, indices, human resource management and hygiene”, he emphasized.

He pointed out that accreditation revision is a new stride undertaken by Health System Revolutionizing Program. Accreditation is a document to stabilize health system revolutionizing program in the structure of national standards.

In a part of his lecture referring to the advantages of executing health system revolutionizing program, Mr. Asgari averred: health system revolutionizing program led to a dramatic leap of elevation in Iran’s health structure comparing to other countries in the region. This is done by operationalizing seven executive packages such as: decreasing treatment charges paid out of patients’ pocket, promoting natural labor and improving hospital hoteling.

In his opinion, the delay in the provision of financial resources on the part of insurance companies is the most critical challenge of health system revolutionizing program. Intelligent management can coordinate the management structure with resource conditions through management strategies, the most credible one of which is accreditation.

The executive deputy of accreditation general manager in Ministry of Health, Hygiene and Medical Education asserted: hospital managers are currently dealing with challenges and problems caused by the delay in payments. Hence, I ensure that all the expenses would be paid, though with some delay. We are able to manage these issues through strategies like accreditation.

As he puts it: the delay in paying financial resources of the hospitals and universities must not lead to big complications in offering services.

“Organizations are of two types: they either have a program, or not! Based on the experience agreed upon all around the world, traditional management is now totally extinct and won’t lead the sentimental manager and the organization to success”, he emphasized.

He expressed hope that: with the guidance offered by Mashhad University of Medical Science and other  headquarter universities around the country, we would witness the implementation of accreditation standards in patients’ beds not in hospital showcases, otherwise these standards would be worth nothing but mere slogans.
