Intersectoral Cooperation for Health

Necessity of Intersectoral Cooperation to Achieve All Aspects of Health

The educational workshop for CMRP (Class Management, Resiliency, and Play) planned and hosted by Mashhad University of Medical Sciences was held with the presence of 50 teachers and executive managers of this plan.

According to WebDa, Vice Deputy of Health Deputy of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences stated: physical aspects comprise only one fourth of human health, and human health is mostly associated with spiritual, social, and mental aspects of a human being.

In an educational workshop for CMRP (Class Management, Resiliency, and Play) plan, Dr. Kazem Farahmand added: according to the World Health Organization, health is composed of four dimensions: physical, psychological, social, and spiritual. The spiritual dimension was added to the total dimensions of health in 1970.

He insisted on inter-sectoral cooperation to achieve all aspects of health and stated: most dimensions of health cannot be supplied by the health sector; thus, inter-sectoral cooperation is crucial in this regard.

Referring to the necessity of supplying various aspects of students’ health, he pointed out: today, issues such as university entrance exams  and Olympiads are not the only reasons for the success of a school; rather, teaching life skills to prevent harms as well as supplying various aspects of students’ health are the priorities.

He stated: in recent years social harms have been spreading throughout the country and opposing, controlling, and enhancing the consequences of these harms requires preventive measures being taken since school age.

He reiterated: by expanding health care and life skills education since childhood and school age, a country like Cuba has been very successful in this regard.

In the second part of his words, Dr. Farahmand referred to the fact that prevention always precedes treatment; he stated: according to the second paragraph of the Supreme Leader’s communicated health policies, emphasis has been put on the role of prevention in the area of health.

He concluded: on the other hand, the spread of diseases currently shifts from contingent to non-contingent diseases such as diabetes and blood pressure whose control requires preventive measures and self-care plans.
