Health Is an Important Dimension of Quality in Food Production Industry

Concomitant to the world food day (October 16^th), 51 top production units of food, nutrition, cosmetic and hygienic products as well as agricultural and animal products were appreciated and awarded.

According to WebDa, in this ceremony, Dr. Mohammadreza Saberi, the deputy of Food and Drug Administration of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences asserted: Health is one of the important dimensions of quality in food industry productions. Promoting quality is the key for survival in the market. The higher the people’s awareness, the more they would pay attention to the quality and safety of foodstuffs.

Dr. Sabery introduced the theme of this years’ world food day in Iran as “Promoting Health and Reforming Food and Eating Patterns” and said: Iran is one of the countries in the region that enjoys an exclusive status regarding the equipment, supplying foodstuffs and ensuring food safety.

He added: controlling contaminations with microbes is one of the short-term emergencies in this scope. The midterm and long term programs include controlling heavy metals and poisonous remnants in addition to the factors affecting short height, change in mood, intelligent quotient, infliction with chronic diseases, especially cardiovascular ailments and cancer. These programs are pursued as targeted.

Emphasizing the fact that almost all foodstuffs produced in Khorasan Razavi Province include the nutrition facts list label about the amount of calories, salt and sugar, the deputy of Food and Drug Administration of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences added: this is a right for every citizen to have the necessary information about the nutritional value of what they purchase.

Dr. Saberi stated: Food and Drug Administration of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences has issued 6,000 construction licensea and products’ hygienic identifications for 1,000 production units.

At the end of this ceremony, 35 top units of nutritional and hygienic products, 10 top veterinarian units and 6 agricultural units that had observed the quality indices were admired and awarded.
