Codification of Student Admission Program in Radio-biology Will Be Pursued

Head of the Department of Medical Physics of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences informed of efforts into obtaining the student admission permission in Master of Radio-biology. He stated that the student admission program in the field of Radio-biology, a subcategory of Medical Physics, is being codified, and it is hoped to be approved by the Higher Council for Planning by the beginning of the following academic year.

In an interview with WEBDA on the development of Medical Physics in Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Mohammad Taghi Bahreini stated that the Department of Medical Physics is the most outstanding department of its kind with the full time effort and sincere cooperation of faculty members, the staff and the students.

According to him, the Medical Physics Faculty plays a significant role in the development of this science in the country. He stated that this department is the first Medical Physics department and admits students for Master’s and PhD courses, and Mashhad University of Medical Sciences is the first university that has obtained the student admission permission in Master of Medical Imaging and Technology.

This Faculty Member of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences stated that 7 students have been admitted in this field of study since the beginning of September this year.

Pointing to the efforts in obtaining the student admission permission in in Master of Radio-biology, he expressed hope to obtain the student admission permission in this field of study with the support of authorities regarding the provision of space and equipment.

Head of the Medical Physics Research Center emphasized that student admission in this field of study, a subcategory of Medical Physics, is being codified and it is hoped to be approved by the Higher Council for Planning by the beginning of the following academic year.

Head of the Medical Physics Research Center stated that due to the growing development of this science and need for accurate diagnostic and therapeutic methods, Medical Physics experts, as experts of a scientific and applied field of study, contribute significantly to experts of different clinical disciplines in diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Bahreini stated that Medical Physics experts in all Clinical Departments have effective cooperation. However, in some Departments such as Cancer Therapy, Nuclear Medicine, Imaging, etc. presence and close cooperation of these experts is of high significance.

Finally, Faculty Member of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences pointed out that it is attempted in this Conference to introduce this field of study to students of Master of Physics, Technology, Radiology, and other fields that have the potential to enter the specialized course of Medical Physics.
