The Sixteenth Congress of Optometry Will Be Held in Khorasan Province

The sixteenth Congress of Optometry of Khorasan will be held with an attendance of over 600 optometrists from May 18^th to May 20^th this year in collaboration with the Optometry Association of Khorasan and Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.

According to WEBDA, the chairman of the sixteenth Congress of Optometry of Khorasan stated in this regard that 32 of the 78 articles sent to the Secretariat of the Congress have been accepted. 17 articles will be presented in the form of lectures and 15 ones in the form of posters.

Dr. Abbas Azimi announced the establishment of specialized roundtables in different areas of Optometry and Medical Ethics as well as training workshops related to this area during the sixteenth Congress of Optometry in Khorasan.

He pointed out that a number of devices invented by optometrists of our country in the area of Optometry will be exhibited in the aforementioned Congress.

Head of the Optometry Association of Khorasan added that some strategies will be discussed in this Congress to contribute to the establishment of a frame and eyeglass factory in our country.

Dr. Azimi stated that under modern conditions, the country badly needs self-sufficiency and prevention from the entry of foreign goods. This issue is an example of Resistive Economy.

He pointed out that the Optometry Society believes that the associated organizations and ministries must make contributions for establishing small and large workshops of eyeglasses and frames in the country.

Member of the Board of Optometry Scientific Association of Iran stated that it is time-consuming to achieve this goal, which causes increased workforce and the country’s self-sufficiency. Theories and preliminary measures must be pursued now.

According to Dr. Azimi, considering Clinical Management as the central subject of the Sixteenth National Congress of Optometry of Khorasan, Dr. Azimi added that clinical skills, medical ethics, appropriate behavior towards clients, requirements, and ethical charters of patient treatment will be discussed in this Congress.

According to him, currently there exist over 2500 optometrists all over the country.
