Deputy Minister of health from Republic of Tatarstan visited the dialysis and organ transplant centers of Montaserieh Hospital of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.

According to WebDa, Dr. Sergi Spipo, Deputy Minister of Republic of Tatarstan, visited Montaserieh hospital and talked with its director and head to become familiar with scientific and treatment potentials of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, share expertise and discuss sending patients to this hospital for organ transplant. 

Pointing to potentials of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in the area of organ transplantation, Director of the Dialysis and Organ Transplant Centers of Montaserieh hospital said: “currently, kidney, liver, cornea, skin, bone marrow, heart and lung transplant operations are being performed in this university”.

Noting that the transplant center of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences began its work since 2011, Dr. Yarmohammadi said: “in this period (by March 2017), 355 transplant cases from brain dead patients were performed in this university”.

“894 kidney, 137 liver, 24 heart, 2 lung, 119 skin, and 273 cornea transplant surgeries as well as 169 cases of livers sent to other centers are among transplant surgeries from brain dead patients in this university”, added he.

Head of Montaserieh Dialysis and Organ Transplant Center referred to bone marrow transplant operations performed in this center and said: “during the last three years, more than 60 bone marrow transplant operations have been performed in this center”.

Dr. Yarmohammadi pointed to dialysis services provided for kidney patients and said: “every day, patients benefit from 150 hours dialysis in this center”.

Head of Montaserieh Dialysis and Organ Transplant Center mentioned a kidney transplant team organized in Afghanistan by knowledgeable and skillful faculty members of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences and said: “accordingly, 47 kidney transplant operations have been performed in this country and Afghan specialists are now conducting kidney transplant operations”.
