Faculty of Paramedicine Is Ready to Welcome New Students: Head of Faculty

 Head of Faculty of Paramedicine at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences said that 900 students at the faculty are educating in fields of Optometry, Radiology, Laboratory Sciences, Speech Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Health Information Technology, WEBDA reported.

Faculty of Paramedicine along with 6 other faculties at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences are training the students interested in these fields. Thus, WEBDA did an interview with Ali Feizi Laein, PhD, Head of the faculty.

The Faculty Seeks to Train Specialized Experts

Dr. Feizi held that Faculty of Paramedicine seeks to educate specialized experts and genius people in technology, Radiology, Laboratory science, Speech Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Health Information Technology.

Referring to the educational space at the faculty, he noted, “Four years ago, displacing the faculty raised certain problems for us, however, supported by Chancellor of the University as well as by deputies, we passed the barriers.”

 “Yet, we are far from the ideal physical and educational space and facilities for the students. Nevertheless, being constructed, the new educational space in Pardis will solve the problems.”

 “The current physical space of the faculty is 3,300 m² and it features three stories.”

“The faculty features five labs, 13 classrooms, Computer Center, Computer Workshop, IT Center, the library, the Quran saloon for males and females, professors’ offices, the faculty’s magazine office, Refractive Research Center, and administrative units.

Faculty Member at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences said that one optometry building featuring 745 m² is also directed by the faculty. The building has optometry clinic, professors’ offices, experts and a special library.

900 Students Are Educating in 6 Fields at the Faculty

 “Currently, 900 students are educating in fields of Optometry, Radiology, Laboratory Sciences, Speech Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Health Information Technology.”

 “The number of faculty members in field of Optometry is five while the ratio of faculty members to students is 24, a number that is normal. Number of faculty members in Radiology is four and the ratio of faculty members to students is 48. The ratio will be changed to 38 as new faculty members will be employed by the university this year.”

8 Faculty Members Have Joined the Faculty in Last Two Years

 “Number of faculty members in Laboratory Sciences is three and the ratio of faculty members to students is 92; employing a new faculty member will change this number to 70.”

 “The number of faculty members in Physiotherapy is five while the ratio of faculty members to students is 20, that is normal. The number of faculty members at Speech Therapy is three while the ratio of faculty members to students is 25. Three new faculty members will soon join the department.”

 “The number of faculty members at Health Information Technology is five while the ratio of faculty members to students is 25, which is normal.”

 “Being Supported by Deputy for Education at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences and following a call for employing faculty members in the last two years, eight faculty members have joined the university.”

“Three ones joined Physiotherapy Department, one joined Speech Therapy Department, one joined Laboratory Sciences Department and two other ones joined Radiology Technology Department.”

Saying that field of Audiology was launched at the faculty last year, Dr. Feizi maintained, “Last year, some preparations were made to employ a faculty member in Audiology. Also, for the first time, the faculty attracted MSc students in Physiotherapy and Health information Technology.”

 Speech Therapy in MSc will be Launched at the Faculty

Dr Feizi noted that Speech Therapy in MSc will be launched at the faculty, maintaining, “Last year, 32 articles were published in ISI journals by faculty members; Furthermore, 19 articles were published by them in PubMed journals, 5 articles in SCOPUS and 20 ones were published on special websites.”

 “Also, 24 articles were presented at domestic seminars and 13 articles at international ones.”

Number of Published Articles in Foreign and Domestic Journals Has Increased by 20 Percent

Head of Faculty of Paramedicine at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences said that the number of published articles in domestic and foreign journals was increased by 20 percent last year. “The ratio of articles to faculty members is ideal and it is three articles per faculty member.”

 “Last year, five books were published by faculty members, titling Functional Principles of Ultrasound, Diagnostic Imaging in Rehabilitation, Drug Therapy and Nutrition in Speech and Language Disorders, Farsi Narrative Discourse Assessment Test, and Fellowship Management Program Tutorials in Health Management Network Management.”

Referring to 71 non-faculty members at the faculty, he held,”55 percent of non-faculty members at the faculty have Associate Degree, BSc, MSc, and PhD.  Yet, in regard to diverse fields and centers at the faculty, our human force is not sufficient.”

We Have Interesting Programs for New Students in Mehr

“The faculty is ready to welcome the new students and it will hold certain programs at a ceremony. The ceremony will consist of a speech by those in charge of the faculty, educational departments, and Head of Disciplinary Committee. Also, some musical clips on Holy Defense Week will be played.”

The Faculty’s Aim is to Promote Educational, Research and Cultural Facilities

“Those in charge of the faculty try to create ideal conditions for the students and the professors and heads of departments must provide targeted plans to honor the students,” added Dr. Feizi.

 “Faculty members, heads of departments and other experts of the faculty aided by the students should try to promote the educational, research and cultural services via pursuing creative approaches,” he said.
