First Conference for Benefactors in Research and Technology Held in Mashhad

First conference for benefactors in research and technology in Province of Khorasan Razavi was held in Mashhad, WEBDA reported.

The conference was attended by 100 benefactors in health sphere as well as researches at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. They visited various departments of Ibn-e- Sina Research Institute, Mashhad.

On the sideline of the conference, Deputy for Research and Technology at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences Mohsen Tafaghodi, PhD, said that the benefactors were informed of five research projects in Khorasan Razavi.

“The projects include Health Research and Technology Building, Stem Cells Labs and Processing Center in East of Iran, the first academic center for research and vaccine production in East of the country, and the first special complex of knowledge-based health companies in Mashhad.”

 “The conference, also, focused on developing Health Bio-Bank (including gene, skin, and eye).”

“The projects require 10.5 million dollars to be completed,” he added.

Ibn-e- Sina Research Institute (45,000 m²) was established as an academic research center at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in 1997. It consists of research centers for pharmaceutical Sciences, Immunology, Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Medical Physics, and Microbial Resistance. 

Currently, 80 faculty members at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences as well as 100 MSc and PhD students do research there.

 “According to the latest World University Ranking by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Company and, also, based on employers’ evaluation and number of references per research paper, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences has been ranked between 101 and 450 in the field of medicine among the world’s universities.”

Having 8,000 students and over 20,000 health and treatment personnel, the university is known as an important medical base in North East of Iran.
