Iran Has Experienced Great Improvements in Cognitive Sciences

The Seminar of Cognitive Sciences and Technologies with the approach of introducing activities and capabilities of universities in Khorasan Razavi was held at Avicenna Psychology Hospital with the attempts and collaborations of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Research Center and Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.

According to WebDa, the Chief of Staff of the Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences Development in Presidential Administration of Science and Technology, Dr. Kamal Kharazi, asserted: Iran has achieved great developments in the scope of cognitive sciences and technologies.

In his lecture in the Seminar of Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences and Technologies in Mashhad, Dr. Kharazi averred: cognitive sciences and technologies as a modern science, is an interdisciplinary domain attempting to discover the secrets of the human mind and brain and human cognitive functions.

He asserted: Cognitive Sciences are created as an interaction between majors in Neurosciences, Psychology, Anthropology, Education, Artificial Intelligence and the Philosophy of Mind.

He asserted: the advent of new technology, recording brain signals and dynamic imaging of brain functions have been significant aids in the development of this science.

Considering the fact that Cognitive Sciences are among the technologies in the new millennium revolution, Dr. Kharazi added: these sciences are multifunctional in various domains such as defense, military, education, training, society and medicine to the extent that U.S. Ministry of Defense has so far made great investments on research in cognitive intelligence.

He stated: in developed countries, massive projects are under execution with regard to cognitive technologies the biggest one of which are the projects named BRAIN and Human Brain in Europe focusing on drawing human brain circuits and brain simulation.

Speaking of the operationalization of brain mapping laboratory in Iran, he said: by drawing the map of human brain circuits in the framework of a massive network, the technology of brain mapping is intended to find out more about cognitive processing in the scope of brain networks. This will lead to a great revolution in the treatment of mental and cognitive ailments.

Dr. Kharazi added: cognitive sciences researchers in our country can take efficient interdisciplinary strides through brain imaging and the related studies.
