The Health Deputy of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences announced the implementation of the polio supplementary vaccination plan on children below 5 years in high-risk areas of Khorasan Razavi Province.

According to WEBDA, Dr. Hamidreza Bahrami stated that this plan will be implemented in order to preserve the achievements of the polio eradication plan and ensure that the polio virus does not enter and recirculate from Polio-endemic countries (Pakistan and Afghanistan).

He pointed out that the annual practice of polio vaccination will be performed from door to door on two occasions on April 8-9 and May 13-15, 2016 such that the health agents will pay visit to urban and rural areas and administer polio drops to children.

The Health Deputy of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences emphasized intersectional coordination and cooperation in the implementation of this plan and stated that the plan will be implemented on foreign immigrants inside and outside camps in all the affiliated cities, all the families residing in colonies and major settlement areas, in suburban areas in all the affiliated cities, and in all the areas (urban, rural, health center, health house, health post, etc.) with less than 95 percent of OPV3 vaccine coverage.

According to Dr. Bahrami, areas covered by mobile teams (nomads, etc.) in all the affiliated cities, all the children below 5 years who are probably in prison with their mothers, eastern area borders including Khaf, Taybad, Sarakhs, and suburbs of Mashhad are among the areas covered by this plan.
