Paying Regard for the Improvement of Health Literacy Is One of the Main Topics of the Health System Reform Plan

Researches carried out in Iran show that low level of health literacy is associated with increased physiological damages and complications of illnesses and deaths.

According to WEBDA, The Scientific Secretary of the National Conference on Health Literacy stated that paying regard for the role of health literacy in the society in order to be aware of the public health status is a national priority, and on the other hand, public access to health requires careful planning in the field.

She mentioned health literacy as one of the main topics of the Health System Reform Plan and added that paying regard for health literacy of the public plays an important role in empowerment of public health with an emphasis on self-care, disease prevention and improvement.

Pointing out the process of holding this conference for the first time in the country, the Scientific Secretary of the National Health Conference stated that 181 articles have been selected out of 478 articles sent to the conference secretariat.

She added that during the 3-day conference, 31 articles will be presented in the form of lectures and 150 articles in the form of posters with an emphasis on different aspects of health literacy.

Dr. Peyman added that during the conference, a top article as well as a top poster will be selected at the end of each day.
