National Conference of the Working Group on Development and Excellence in Nutrition Sciences was Held

National Conference of the Working Group on Development and Excellence in Nutrition Sciences was held centered on “Foresight in Nutrition Sciences” hosted by Mashhad University of Medical Sciences and with the participation of directors of nutrition sciences departments, heads of nutrition faculties of Iran’s universities of  Medical Sciences, and a number of specialists in this field.

According to WEBDA, this meeting was attended by Dr. Asghari, Head of the Food and Drug Organization and Dr Mehrabi Bahar,  head of the university, and head of the regional council of the 9th Territorial Agenda. Dr. Norouzi, the secretary of the Working Group on Development and Excellence in Nutrition Sciences considered the main goal of this conference as coordinating and participating in the national nutrition improvement and introducing national nutrition improvement system (NCNSE) and said: “In the field of nutritional sciences, we have certain conditions and there is a  need for the development of educational principles in this field.”

Dr. Zahra Abdullahi, director general of the Society for Nutrition Improvement at the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, said: “Food policies are not in line with nutritional policies, which means that food policy is not nutritionally healthy, with an economic look and towards self-sufficiency.”

She added: “With a preventive nutritionist perspective, the graduates of this field will be proactive in their field of work and will work better, and in the context of clinical nutrition, it is also necessary to improve their abilities for a treatment regimen to be effective in this area.”

Dr. Jafarian, Associate Professor at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, and a member of the Nationwide Nursing Committee of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States, presented a report on the activities carried out in relation to the projection of nutrition science, and said: "We will take advantage of experts in this project and our experts will not only be nutritionists; we consider experts in physical education for sports counseling and food factory managers, too.”

He added: "The focus will be on education, research and service delivery."

It is worth mentioning that the participants discussed the issues presented at the meeting.
