For Each Active Hospital Bed in Mashhad University of Medical Sciences

 There Is One Active Nurse

The director of Nursing Office of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, MohammadHassan Ezzati said: according to the indices of the Ministry of Health, Hygiene and Medical Education, the hospitals and Treatment Centers under the supervision of this university require 2500 new nurses.

According to WebDa, Mr. Ezzati added: according to the standards of the Ministry of Health, Hygiene and Medical Education of the country, the rate of nurses per beds must be 1.7 while this index is less than one in Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.

He asserted: at the moment, for every hospital bed in Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, one nurse is active.

He added: in the employment examination of the Ministry of Health and Hygiene to be held this November, 350 nurses will be employed and attracted for work at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.

“There is a dire need to 600 nurses and 250 assistant nurses in the departments and newly established hospitals in the regions under the supervision of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences”, said the director of Nursing Office of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.

Indicating that there is no jobless nurse in Khorasan Razavi Province, he continued to say: any nursing graduate referring to us would be employed in governmental or non-governmental health centers.

Regarding the execution of “Case Method” plan or nursing care through case method aiming at elevating the quality of the services and patient satisfaction, he said: Specialist Pediatric Dr. Sheikh Hospital of Mashhad is one of the hospitals that has executed this plan as a trial in June this year.

Mr. Ezzati said: case nurse care is a principled care method in which a nurse undertakes all cares related to all his/her patients in a shift.

He added: in executing this plan, the nurse introduces himself/herself to the patient in the beginning of the shift. At the end of the shift the nurse must inform the patient that from now, another nurse would take care of him/her.

“In this plan, the name of the nurse is also written at the foot of the bed”, he asserted.

Ezzati continued to say: within early November, this plan would be executed in all hospitals under the supervision of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. Though it should be considered that it cannot be implemented in all wards especially emergency and psychiatric departments as to the nature of the issues they are associated with.
