The Opening of Department of Neurosciences in Mashhad University of Medical Sciences

In line with the implementation of the Development and Innovation Plan in the education of medical sciences, Department of Neurosciences was established in the Medical School of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.

 According to WEBDA, Department of Neurosciences of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences was established in the presence of the presidents of major universities and faculties of district 9, Seyyed Ali Hosseini, Head of Academic Affairs Center of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, Mohammadreza Darabi, Education Deputy of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, and a group of faculty members of the Medical School.

Education Deputy of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences stated that ‘development and excellence of Neurosciences’ is one of the intensive missions of District 9, and establishing the Department of Neurosciences in the Medical School of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences is among the major enactments of the corresponding committee.

According to Dr. Mohammad Reza Darabi, the development of knowledge of art and health, dentistry and related sciences, nutrition sciences, and knowledge of palliative medicine are among the other missions of District 9.

In an interview with WEBDA, Head of the Department of Neurosciences in the Medical School of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences and professor of University of Münster in Germany stated that they attempt to educate their patients on the prevention of neurosciences diseases before they become sick.

He added that new disciplines are added to medical sciences with the advancement of Science among which is neurosciences discipline as an interdisciplinary major.

Professor Gorji stated that in this field, it is attempted to cure neurological diseases, research into incurable diseases in the field of Neuroscience, and prevent neurological diseases.

Pointing to cognitive and learning processes regarding neurological diseases, he stated that Mashhad University of Medical Sciences has a history of over 10 years working in the field of Neurosciences and is known as the hub of neurosciences in the country.

Head of the Department of Neurosciences in the Medical School of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences stated that this department was stablished in less than six month and it will offer good research projects in this area over the coming months.

Professor Gorji stated that this department is currently equipped with EEG Recorders as well as histology and pathology systems, and it will be equipped with some general and public systems such as molecular and radiography systems.

In the end, he told about turning the Neurosciences Department of Medical School of Mashhad into an active Neurosciences Department across the Province and stated that this department will be an active and perfect sector in Mashhad within the coming two years and it will contribute to the treatment and prevention of neurological diseases in the country.
