Nursing Director of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Hassan Ezzati said: Case Method Plan, Home Care Program and Nurses’ Professional Competency license are among the programs under execution in order to elevate nursing services. Mashhad university of Medical Sciences has recently started to implement these programs parallel to their implementation throughout the country.

According to WebDa, Mr. Ezzati referred to the establishment constitution of counselling institutes and home care nursing institutes and asserted: at the moment, 24 nursing centers are active in the region under supervision of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, among which 18 centers are located in Mashhad and the rest in other cities of Khorasan Razavi Province.

He averred that: establishing and promoting counselling and home care nursing institutes is being pursued aiming at safe and high quality nursing such that for each 50 thousand of population, one home care center would be established.

As he put it: to do so, a home care unit must be created to give instructions to the patients about how to use the services provided by counselling and home care services.

With regard to the procedure of issuing Professional Competency license of the nurses working in public and private hospitals in the regions under supervision of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Mr. Ezzati said: Nurses’ Professional Competency License is a certificate that nurses can achieve apart from their university degree after obtaining the necessary competencies as to scientific, disciplinary, ethical, physical and mental qualifications.

The Nursing Director of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences added: issuing Nurses’ Professional Competency License is a necessity. Ignoring this license is a significant pitfall and weak point in the country’s health and treatment system. Based on the rules, Nurses’ Professional Competency License would be rechecked for extension every five years.

He added: case method nursing care is a fundamental caring method all over the world in which one nurse undertakes the whole course of action in caring his/her patients in a working shift. Patient’s satisfaction, lowering risk for the patients and increased satisfaction among nurses are among the advantages of this plan.

“Case Method nursing care is one of the oldest nursing methods in which each nurse takes care of some patients completely in a working shift, and introduces himself/herself at the beginning of the working shift and informs the patients at the time of shift exchange that “from now, my colleague will take care of you”, said he.

Mr. Ezzati explained: A nurse is conventionally responsible to monitor a patient’s vital signs, and another nurse must keep the patients profile records updated. In this way, there is more of a mechanical look  dominant in offering cares than a humane one.

Moreover, the Nursing Director of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences stressed that according to international standards, at the moment, the public and private hospitals and treatment center under supervision of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in Khorasan Razavi require 6000 new nurses.

“The total nursing personnel of public and private hospitals and treatment centers under supervision of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences is 6,500 including nurses, anesthesia and operation room experts, paramedics and paramedic aids” said Mr. Ezzati.

As he put it, 4,500 of these nurses are working in treatment centers under supervision of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences and others belong to private hospitals, the Army, the Corps, etc.

He pointed out that: we don’t have any jobless nurse in Khorasan Razavi Province. Although we don’t have employment permission to hire nurses in public hospitals, any jobless nurse referring to us would be employed in private hospitals.

Regarding[M1]  the establishment constitution of Counselling and Home Care nursing centers, he asserted: at the moment, 24 Nursing Care Centers are active in the region under supervision of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences among which 18 centers are located in Mashhad and others in other cities of Khorasan Razavi Provinc
