Smoking; The Main Cause Of Cancer

Vice Deputy of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences introduced smoking as one of the most important causes of cancer.

In a conference, on the Week without Smoking that was held in Enghelab Eslami cultural center, Dr Farahmand stated: according to research, the relationship between smoking and affliction with 24 types of cancer and 53 diseases has been proved.

He pointed out that smoking harms the person who smokes and those around him or her, and parents play a key role as a model for their children.

Insisting on the role of awareness raising in reducing use of narcotics, Vice Deputy of Mashhad Medical University stated: achieving high health targets would not be possible without cooperation and participation of other sections. 

Shahcheraghi, an expert and mayor of zone 4, acknowledged health care centers’ activities and insisted that a society without narcotics is not merely the duty of government organizations, but rather it requires all people’s participation and change of behavior in families.

He continued: currently, social councils of neighborhoods and the zone’s health workgroup have put the issue of quitting smoking and setting the ground for a change in behavior of all people on the agenda.

Head of Public Monitor Administration of the province, Sergeant Mansouri Far and Dr. Hanifpour, person in charge of health education in Khorasan Razavi Governorship, were among other speakers of this conference.

In this conference, all officials took part in the national campaign of “make hookahs vases” endorsing this national initiative.

It is worth saying that the conference on the Week without Smoking was held by Mashhad Health Center number two, Environment and Professional Health Management of Deputy of Health of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences and with hearty participation of Zone 4 Municipality and with the presence of Advisor to the Director General of Khorasan Razavi Broadcasting, Head of Health Office of Education Organization, Head of Public Monitor Office of the Province, Person in Charge of Health Education in Khorasan Razavi Governorship, Representatives of the Prosecutor and the Deputy of Social and Crime Prevention of Mashhad Public and Revolutionary Court, Council for Dispute Settlement specified for Investigating Health Inspection Violations and a body of directors from Deputy of Health in the University in Enghelab Eslami cultural center.
