Social Welfare Demands Applicable Research Plans
The Execution of Applicable Research Plans in Research Centers Is Essential to Elevate Social Welfare
Dr. MohammadHossein Baskabadi, the head of Neurogenic Inflammation Research Institute of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences considered the execution of practical research plans in research centers as a significant principle in extending services and elevating social welfare.
According to WebDa, Dr. Baskabadi said: we must perform practical research studies in our research centers. For instance, in the scope of respiratory functioning tests, we must perform the job in such a way to solve people’s problems with this regard in the society.
According to WebDa, in a report presented about the functional and developmental procedure of neurogenic inflammatory research institute of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Baskabadi firstly emphasized the importance of establishing research centers and said: I believe, research institutes are in fact centers in which faculty members of a well-known university gather together in order to perform their research projects and investigations.
He stressed the role of financial independence as an important factor in the development of research institutes and added: as to lack of financial independence in research institutes, we cannot have much expectation from them scientific production of knowledge and information. In fact, in current situation, faculty members themselves are the only major element of scientific development and scientific production in research institutes.
Dr. Baskabadi pointed out: there must be further attempts to create motivation in research centers to guide research studies and investigations in a particular path that is indeed essential for the university and the country, by providing them with further financial independence.
The head of Neurogenic Inflammation Research Institute spoke of the role that research institutes play in creating a sense of competition among faculty members and various departments and added: research centers have greatly been able to create a sense of competition among themselves by means of the evaluation process performed by the Ministry of Health, Hygiene and Medical Education and their rankings. This should be further promoted and developed qualitatively.
Dr. Baskabadi highlighted that: this competition would shape its identity only when a research center with 1500 scores and a high rank does not receive the same facilities and funds as one with 150 scores!
The head of Neurogenic Inflammation Research Institute added: in these recent years, this inequality in the distribution of facilities has decreased to some extent, and the institutes with higher scores receive more attention and support. Though there is still way to go for research institutes to be seen more and receive facilities based on their scientific endeavors.
“Experts who are fully acquainted with research and investigations are influential in attracting genius student researchers”, asserted Dr. Baskabadi, “These experts can extremely help in successful guidance and attraction of newly admitted students regarding scientific production”.
The head of Neurogenic Inflammation Research Institute averred: apart from the fact this institute is entangling with lack of research experts, the problem in other institutes is that their experts either work there part time, or their administrative duties take too much of their time which can be allocated to research. If this perspective is revised, scientific production will have a multifold growth in Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.
He stated: a necessary principle in research institutes is being realistic and serve the real purpose, that is, every institute must be fully aware of the underlying objectives for its establishment. In case an institute is merely carrying the name of research center but is serving other purposes, it must either be merged into other institutes or be given a notice and a chance to boost itself through a scientific leap.
Dr. Baskabadi spoke of Neurogenic Inflammation Research Institute and asserted: 19 educational faculty members are active in this center; eight of them are physiology department faculty members and others are from other departments, faculties and universities.
The head of Neurogenic Inflammation Research Institute said: one of the concerns asked by Mashhad University of Medical Sciences from its research centers is to have members from other medical sciences universities’ faculty members throughout the country.
He emphasized: this research institutes currently has five active members from faculty members from Esfahan, Tabriz, Bojnourd and Ahwaz medical sciences universities.
The head of Neurogenic Inflammation Research Institute spoke of this center’s perspective and said: we are so hopeful about the future, in case the problems are solved, we can do practical researches in the fields of respiration, endocrinology, diabetes related diseases, neurology, cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, environmental pollutants, kidney and gastrointestinal issues, etc.
He highlighted: if the challenges get resolved in these centers that attempt to elevate the level of knowledge and science in the university and, of course, the country, the future outlook of neurogenic inflammation or applied physiology research centers would be so brilliant, serious and coherent. Though, we will definitely follow this very outlook even if these problems resist in spite of officials’ diligent efforts.
This professor in the faculty of medicine in Mashhad University of Medical Sciences spoke about the score achieved by this institute in 2014 and asserted: this institute could achieve a total of 1436.79 scores. Also, the grant of faculty members in this research center was more than 11,500 dollars in the budget allocated in 2014.
Dr. Baskabadi added: in this year, almost 47 articles are submitted by active faculty members in this institute. We have been very successful in presenting these articles to various conferences and seminars.
In the end, he highlighted six research projects in Neurogenic Inflammation Research Institute and said: very good research designs and plans are being performed in this center to which a budget of 8,500 dollars is allocated by the university. We are looking forward to future promotion in successful scientific production through finalizing these plans.
