The Fourteenth Successful Heart Transplant Surgery in Imam Reza (AS) Hospital

 The fourteenth heart transplant surgery of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences was successfully performed on a 49-year-old patient in the Heart Transplant Center of Imam Reza (AS) Hospital.

According to WEBDA, the head of heart and lung transplant team of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Reza Baqeri stated that this heart transplant surgery, which is the second heart transplant surgery in Imam Reza (AS) Hospital in the year 2016, was successfully performed under the supervision of Dr. Mohammad Abbasi, heart surgery specialist of the Hospital and the University Faculty Member, accompanied by the transplant medical team.

In this regard, Dr. Mohammad Abbasi stated that Mohammad Reza Marvaji Qodsi, a patient suffering from heart failure, underwent heart transplant surgery on May 15^th, 2016 after a long time waiting in the transplant list.

He stated that the donor heart was received from a 45-year-old brain-dead patient called Nour Mohammad Gorouhi who became brain-dead in an accident.

This Faculty Member of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences pointed out that according to reports received from the Cardiac Surgery Ward of the Hospital, the recipient of the heart is in good condition under intensive medical care in ICU and will be transferred to the Cardiology Ward in the next few days.
