Dr. Pasdar, a faculty member at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, pointed to the important role of genomic disorders in the prevalence of common diseases in the community and said: "Genetic disorders are an important and determining factor in the incidence of many diseases, which is essential for informing specialists.” In a conversation with the news agency of the First International Congress of Nutrition, this faculty memebr of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, referring to the workshop on "Advances in Genetic Analysis", said: “The workshop was designed to analyze multifactorial diseases and how to calculate the genetic component depending on the issue, the issue of the prevention and treatment of genetic diseases was discussed with respect to the latest findings on the human genome.” He added: “At this workshop, human genome project and its achievements and how genetic risk factors have been implicated in recent years as factors affecting the incidence of various diseases were discussed.” Dr. Alireza Pasdar went on to categorize diseases with a genetic source and said: “In the first group, there are diseases that only one gene has a disorder, and as a result, the product or its function is disrupted; thalassemia is a disease with a high frequency in society.” He noted the origin of the disease in the second group of genetic diseases as chromosomal disorders and added: “The third category are genetic diseases, which are also called "multi-gene or multifactorial disorders" and are actually caused by the interference of several genes with environmental factors, leading the person to a disease, in other words, one tends to develop a disease.” Faculty member of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences continued: “The diseases that fall into this category are abundant and include high blood pressure, cancer, lupus erythematosus, spinal cord disorders and other common diseases, and it is also important to note that the degree of genetic interference in these diseases varies from society to society.” Dr. Pasdar also emphasized that genomic diseases play an important role in the health of the community and ultimately lead to the main burden of treatment in each community in terms of health care and said: “Since most experts do not consider a genetic role in the development of illnesses, and does not consider it as the main factor in this regard, it is essential that information and awareness be given to them in the first step and to all sectors related to community health.” At the end, referring to the beginning of the International Congress of Nutrition at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, he said: "This congress is a great opportunity for all nutrition experts to help improve the health of the community by improving their knowledge and information in this regard.” |
