The Emphasis of University President on the Role of Education in Qualitative and Quantitative Development of the Population

The president of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences emphasized on the key role of education in improving the qualitative and quantitative development of the population.

According to WEBDA, Dr. Mostafa Mehrabi Bahar in the first committee of reproductive health, fertility and improving fertility of province which was held at the University auditorium of the Central Building, stated that: according to the intentions of the Supreme Leader and in line with implementing the paragraphs one of overall policies of populations, increasing the fertility rate to over the replacement level is on the agenda.

He added: in order to implement this paragraph, to avoid non-essential radicalism, a coherent and comprehensive plan in collaboration with other development sectors is needed.

In this meeting, Health Deputy of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences stated: following the ups and downs of recent years that our country has in population debate, the Supreme Leader has mentioned the quantity and quality of population from 2013, and he asked for explaining the basic strategies.

Dr. Bahrami Added: This policies are explained in 14 paragraphs. Among its provision, we can point to removing barriers to marriage and family bonds, the Iranian Islamic lifestyle, respect for the elderly, empowerment of working age population, population distribution and migration management and improve life expectancy.

He continued with emphasizing the fact that many countries in the world due to its high population have excelled in many of the indicators and said: Now the population growth rate is 1.4, while the population replacement rate is approximately 2 and if planning is not done in this regard, in the coming years, the country will be faced with the problem of declining population.

Dr. Bahrami said that 8% of the elderly population in the country, statistics on marriage and divorce, single child and no child are the problems facing the upgrading fertility rate and asked for provincial planning in this regard with the participation of all sectors of development.

Dr. Mohamad Ahmadian, director of population health, family and school of deputy of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences pointed to issues such as equity in accessing and utilization of health services, the phenomenon of urbanization, the growing of social problems, especially in large cities and paying less attention to the capacity of inter-sectoral collaboration as the main challenges of health section and said: Given the existing challenges and the policies of the Supreme Leader and documents, health transformation program in the field of health in the form of 7 programs and 8 backup projects has been developed and implemented.

Dr. Ahmadian named taking the appropriate strategies in order to enhance the overall fertility rate to over the replacement level, planning for providing, maintaining and promoting the health of mothers, children and families, taking appropriate strategies for promoting healthy and timeliness marriage, improving the bonds and stability of families, taking policies on increasing the planned pregnancy, taking appropriate strategies to promote and institutionalize Islamic and Iranian lifestyle, and conducting demographic research as the objectives of Reproductive Health Committee.

It should be noted that: the first Reproductive Health Committee, fertility and increasing the overall fertility rate of province was held at University auditorium of the Central Building in which the president of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences and a group of managers and members of the working group of health and food security of province attended.
