Overview

Welcome to the Department of Dermatology at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. The origins of dermatology in Mashhad date back to October 1940, when patients with skin diseases were initially treated within internal medicine sections. The department’s academic foundation was established by Dr. Mohammad Taghi Radpoor, who trained at the Saint-Louis Hospital in Paris. In 1948, the dermatology department was established at Imam Reza Hospital. Over the decades, the department expanded its diagnostic capabilities, starting from basic paraclinical tests to establishing specialized dermatopathology under Dr. Alavi, and subsequently opening clinical services at Ghaem Hospital. Today, the department is a vital center for dermatological education, research, and patient care.

Our Expertise

The Department of Dermatology provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services, with specialized capabilities including:

• Advanced Phototherapy & Lasers: Operating dedicated phototherapy and laser clinics to treat conditions such as psoriasis, vitiligo, and cutaneous lymphomas.
• Specialized Outpatient Procedures: Performing biopsies, cryotherapy, electrosurgery, chemical peeling, microdermabrasion, and specialized surgical removal of skin lesions.
• Dedicated Specialty Clinics: Running targeted clinics for pediatric dermatology, cutaneous leishmaniasis (salak), and pemphigus.
• Comprehensive Academic Training: Providing medical education and practical training for undergraduate medical students and dermatology residents.
