A Legacy of Excellence

The School of Dentistry of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences holds a proud legacy as one of the pioneering centers of dental education in Iran. Established in 1965, it was the second dental school in the country to award the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. Our foundation was driven by the vision of Dr. Amir Esmaeil Sandoozi and Dr. Badri Teymoortash, whose dedication transformed an ambitious concept into an enduring academic institution.

Evolution and Growth

From our early years with limited facilities across Mashhad, we have steadily expanded our scope and reputation. A pivotal moment in our institutional history occurred in 1979 (1358 SH) with the launch of postgraduate programs in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Endodontics. Since then, the school has continuously evolved, expanding its academic portfolio to include 10 specialty programs and two fellowship courses. Today, we proudly stand as the largest dental school in Iran, serving as a hub for dental excellence and innovation.

Infrastructure and Facilities

We operate within a state-of-the-art facility designed to foster cutting-edge education and patient care:

• Clinical Excellence: 10 specialized departments comprising 330 dental units, a dedicated dental hospital for anesthesia-based procedures, and a 24/7 EMS 115 station.
• Learning Environments: Eight classrooms (100-person capacity each), four seminar halls, a 300-seat auditorium, and an open-access library.
• Research & Laboratory: A central laboratory, four specialized prosthodontics labs, three pre-clinical laboratories, a dental materials lab, and a dedicated laser unit.
• Student Welfare: Two dining facilities with a 200-person capacity each.
