Head’s Message

Welcome to the Department of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. Since achieving independent status in 2023, we have solidified our role as a dedicated center for treating patients with complex allergic and immunodeficiency disorders. Our department combines clinical excellence with rigorous training for sub-specialty fellows. We are committed to advancing the field through evidence-based practice and interdisciplinary collaboration, ensuring that our patients receive high-quality care while our residents develop the diagnostic and therapeutic skills needed to lead in this highly specialized field.

Overview

Although recognized as an independent clinical group in May 2023, the department has a history dating back to 1997. It evolved from a section within other departments to a dedicated Allergy and Immunology division in 2008 and established a specialized ward in 2012 at Ghaem Hospital. Today, it stands as a specialized educational and treatment unit, training sub-specialty fellows and serving a significant number of patients.

• Primary Immunodeficiency Disorders (PID): Diagnosis and long-term management.
• Allergic Diseases: Comprehensive care for complex allergic conditions.
• Clinical Immunology: Evaluating and treating disorders of the immune system.
• Sub-specialty Education: Training fellows through structured clinical exposure.

Clinical Scope

The department is based at Ghaem Hospital (3rd Floor), where it operates:

• An independent inpatient ward (established in 2012).
• Educational and treatment clinics operating on a regular weekly basis.
• Specialized outpatient consultations for allergic and immunologic cases.

Educational & Research Mission

The department’s mission focuses on training two sub-specialty fellows annually through a three-year program. The research mission involves collaborative efforts with the Medical Immunology department and other clinical groups to advance the understanding and treatment of immunologic disorders. We strive to maintain excellence in academic standards while providing compassionate care to patients with immune system disorders.
