Overview
Welcome to the Department of Cardiology at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. Academic cardiology training began in Mashhad in 1934 within the internal medicine department at Imam Reza Hospital, under the guidance of pioneering physicians. Residency training in cardiology was launched in 1969. In 1991, the Department of Cardiology was officially established as an independent academic department. Over the years, the department has grown dramatically, establishing advanced clinical facilities, moving to the modern “610 Building” at Imam Reza Hospital in 2017, and building highly specialized units across both Ghaem and Imam Reza hospitals. Today, it stands as a major cardiovascular education and treatment hub in Iran.
