Overview

The Department of Rehabilitation Management represents an interdisciplinary discipline bridging rehabilitation sciences with modern health management principles. The program focuses on health policy formulation, organizational leadership, strategic planning, resource allocation, and quality assurance across healthcare systems. We prepare qualified healthcare administrators to direct rehabilitation centers, manage complex clinical delivery processes, conduct policy research, and optimize health service delivery in public, private, and non-governmental organizations.

History and Evolution

Rehabilitation Management education in Iran commenced in 1974 (1353) under the Iranian Rehabilitation Society at the School of Rehabilitation and Social Welfare. Following post-revolution restructuring, the program was reopened in 1998 under the Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences University. Since 1999 (1378), student admission has been conducted through the Ministry of Health and Medical Education. Curricula were revised nationally in 2007 to align with evolving health system policies and international academic benchmarks, expanding the career scope of graduates across healthcare networks, the State Welfare Organization, special education agencies, and Veterans Affairs.

Academic & Research Scope

The department delivers graduate-level training designed to address emerging administrative and policy needs in health systems:

• Academic Degrees: Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Rehabilitation Management.
• Administrative & Policy Scope: Institutional management of public and private rehabilitation facilities, health systems supervision, leadership in non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and clinical process evaluation.
• Educational & Research Focus: Health policy analysis, operational research in disability services, quality-of-life assessment, and management of specialized disability care systems.
• Global Alignment: Aligned with international academic standards such as Disability Rehabilitation Administration, Rehabilitation Management, and Disability Management.
