🏥 Overview & History

Founded in 2003 through a strategic philanthropic partnership between the Khatam Al-Anbiya Charity Foundation and Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (MUMS), Khatam Al-Anbiya Eye Hospital is the premier and only comprehensive tertiary ophthalmology center in eastern Iran.

Beginning with a 5,000-square-meter facility, the hospital quickly expanded due to unprecedented regional demand. In 2005, an 8,500 m² Phase-II development was launched, opening modern outpatient specialty clinics in 2007, alongside expanding inpatient capacity and surgical suites. Today, the hospital functions as a state-of-the-art center integrating advanced tertiary and quaternary ophthalmic care, subspecialty fellowship training, and pioneering vision research.

👁️ Refractive Surgery & Excimer Laser Center (PRK / LASIK)

Our dedicated refractive surgery unit offers advanced laser correction for myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism using precision excimer laser technology:

• Eligibility Criteria: Age ≥ 18, stable refractive prescription for at least 12 months, stable corneal thickness, and absence of ocular pathology (e.g., keratoconus, severe glaucoma, cataracts) or systemic autoimmune diseases.

• Clinical Pathway: Thorough pre-operative corneal tomography, pachymetry, and comprehensive dilated eye evaluation followed by painless, outpatient laser intervention under topical anesthetic eye drops.

🏥 Surgical Suites & Inpatient Wards

• Advanced Ophthalmic Operating Theaters: Seven modern surgical suites performing over 6,500 specialized operations annually, including:

  • Posterior Segment: Pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) for vitreoretinal pathology, scleral buckling (SB), and diabetic vitrectomy.

  • Anterior Segment: Micro-incision cataract surgery via phacoemulsification with premium foldable intraocular lens (IOL) implantation, keratoplasty (corneal transplants), and glaucoma filtration surgery.

  • Pediatric & Reconstructive: Pediatric congenital cataracts, complex strabismus correction, orbital reconstruction, and lacrimal surgeries.

• Inpatient Care: Two dedicated surgical wards (Surgery I & II) with private and isolated rooms, serving thousands of surgical admissions annually with specialized ophthalmic nursing care.
