Rooted in Iran’s historical scientific legacy—from ancient centers of learning such as Gondishapur to the enduring contributions of medical scholars like Avicenna (Ibn Sina) and Rhazes (Al-Razi)—the foundation for modern medical education in Mashhad began in 1947, culminating in the official inauguration of the Faculty of Medicine on November 23, 1949.
