World Health Organization appreciated Mashhad University of Medical Sciences and Imam Reza Hospital for doing the hand-sanitizing relay.
More than 600 physicians, nurses, medical students, staff and other health care workers participated in hand hygiene relay to wash their hands with alcohol- based hand rub one by one. The hand sanitizing relay work was led by WHO Collaborating Centre (WCC) on Patient Safety (Infection Control and Improving Practices) at University Hospitals Geneva to empower hand hygiene practices among healthcare workers all over the world.  Many health-care facilities all individually tried to break Guinness World Record and highlighting the importance of hand hygiene for patient and health worker safety. 
The President of the Prevention and Infection Control Center of Imam Reza Hospital stated in this regard that this relay held last year in this center aimed at promoting the hand sanitizing, the prevention of infections associated with patient care and the message transmission on the importance of washing hands to all people in the society, and University of Medical Sciences and Imam Reza Hospital were appreciated for organizing this solidarity.
Dr. Mohammad Hasan Alami added: 700 doctors, nurses, students, staff and other health care personnel from different hospitals of Razavi Khorasan Province participated in this conference and the last record of Guinness for the participation in the hand sanitizing was given to Hong Kong with 277 participants last year.
He pointed out that the education of hand sanitizing plays an important role in preventing the hospital infections. He emphasized: The nosocomial infections or hospital-acquired infections are considered the most dangerous infection, and according to the data, from 10 patients, one person was infected to the hospital-acquired infections including bactremia, urinary tract infection, surgical site and lung infections.
