Implementing Practical Research Projects for The Promotion of Community Health
Implementation of Applied Research Projects in Research Centers Is Necessary For the Promotion of Community Health
Head of Neurogenic Inflammation Research Center of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences considered applied research projects in research centers as one of the main principles in the development of services and the promotion of community health.
According to WEBDA, Dr. Mohammad Hussein Boskabadi stated that applied researches must be undertaken in research centers. To give an example, he added that in the case of lung function, tests must be performed in such a way to solve people’s problems in the society.
According to WEBDA, Dr. Boskabadi gave a report of the performance and development of the Neurogenic Inflammation Research Center of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences and pointing to the significance of establishing research centers, he added that research centers are in fact centers comprised of university faculty members who gather in this place in order to do research.
Considering independence as a key factor in the development of research centers, he added that given the lack of financial independence, these centers cannot be expected to produce science. In other words, the only key factors in the production of science and scientific development of research centers are currently faculty members.
Dr. Boskabadi pointed out that research centers must be accompanied by more motivation and it must be attempted to give independence to these centers which can be helpful to the development of science in order to conduct researches in a certain direction based on the needs of universities and the country.
Pointing to the effect of research centers in the creation of a sense of competition between faculty members and various departments, Head of Neurogenic Inflammation Research Center added that in line with the scoring and the assessment carried out by the Ministry of Health, research centers have perfectly managed to create a sense of competition which must be developed qualitatively.
Dr. Boskabadi highlighted that this competition makes sense if only university research centers with a score of 1500 do not receive the same facilities as a center with 150 scores receives.
Head of Neurogenic Inflammation Research Center added that by the grace of God, this unequal distribution of facilities has been somewhat declined in recent years and centers with higher scientific scores are turned more attention. However, these research centers must be taken into more consideration and more facilities be provided based on their scientific endeavor.
According to Dr. Boskabadi, experts familiar with research procedures in research centers are effective in the attraction of elite students and researchers. He added that these experts can be extremely helpful to the attraction of new students and production of science in a faculty.
Head of Neurogenic Inflammation Research Center stated that apart from this center, which lacks experts, in some other centers, experts are either part-time or busy with office work rather that expert work. Provided that this attitude changes, production of science in Mashhad University of Medical Sciences will develop far more significantly.
He stated that realism and the genuineness of these centers are among the required principles in research centers. This means that every center must know the goal of formation and provided that it only bears the name of a research center, this center either merges with other centers or finds opportunities for a scientific leap.
Dr. Boskabadi pointed to the Neurogenic Inflammation Research Center and stated that this center consists of 19 faculty members of which 8 members belong to the Department of Physiology and other members are from other departments, faculties and universities.
Head of Neurogenic Inflammation Research Center added that Mashhad University of Medical Sciences has demanded that their research centers attract faculty members from other universities of medical sciences in the country, and this demand has been perfectly fulfilled.
He highlighted that this center has attracted 5 faculty members from Medical Universities of Isfahan, Tabriz, Bojnord, and Ahvaz.
Pointing to the prospect of this research center, Head of Neurogenic Inflammation Research Center stated that they are very hopeful about the future, and provided that problems become resolved, good applied researches can be conducted on respiration, glands, diabetic diseases, neurological and cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, environmental contaminants, kidney, digestion, etc.
He stressed that if problems are resolved in such centers, which are hopeful to develop science in the university and the country, the future prospect of the Neurogenic Inflammation or Applied Physiology Research Center will be really delightful, earnest and coherent. In case of the sustainability of problems, this prospect will be pursued with the efforts of the concerned authorities of the university.
Pointing to the scores obtained by this center in the year 2014, professor of School of Medicine of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences stated that this center managed to obtain a total of 1436.79 scores in that year. He added that the grant of faculty members of this research center in the budget approved in 2014 was over 400 million Rials based on the scores obtained.
Head of Neurogenic Inflammation Research Center added that about 47 articles were presented by faculty members of the center in that year, and they managed to have highly successful performance in the presentation of these articles in various conferences.
Finally he pointed to six research projects in the Neurogenic Inflammation Research Center and stated that great research projects are being conducted in this center and a budget of about 300 million Rials had been provided by the university. They hope to help to the production of science in the university by fulfilling these projects.
