The Implementation of the Nursing Care Pilot Project Using the Case Method in 56 Hospitals of the Country

Director of Health Promotion Office of the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education stated that the Case Method has so far been implemented as a pilot project in 56 hospitals in the country including Dr. Sheikh Pediatric Hospital in Mashhad.

According to WEBDA, in a meeting of hospital liaisons on the implementation of healthcare instructions based on the Case Method offered by hospitals affiliated to Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Ahmad Nejatian added that from each university of medical sciences in the country, one hospital has been randomly selected based on the Case Method in the form of the implementation of the pilot project of Nursing care.

He pointed out that Case Nursing Care is a standard healthcare method in the world in which a nurse undertakes the whole care of their patients on a single working shift.

He added that Case Nursing Care is one of the oldest methods of nursing. As a result of nurse shortage and work overload at some points in time, other nursing care methods became institutionalized.

Nejatian added that in the framework of the Case Nursing Care plan, each nurse takes care of several patients completely and introduces themselves in the beginning, and by the end of their working shift, their colleague on the new shift is introduced to the patients.

He added that in the common caring method, one nurse is responsible for monitoring patients’ vital signs and another nurse is in charge of recording patients’ records, and mechanical attitude rather than humane attitude governs caring.

Director of Health Promotion Office of the Ministry of Health stated that patient satisfaction, risk reduction for patients, and increased nursing satisfaction are among the advantages of this project.

He added that by the end of this year, 17 thousand people will be added to the Ministry of Health, 11 thousand of which are related to the nursing sector. Employment test for these people will be held in the current month, November.

The meeting of hospital liaisons on the Implementation of Healthcare Instructions Based on the Case Method was held in Ghaem Hospital of Mashhad, attended by the authorities of this project from hospitals affiliated to Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.
