According to WEBDA, this surgery was performed in the Faculty of Dentistry in Mashhad University of Medical Sciences by Dr. Mehdi Fathi, Associate Professor of Anesthesiology, and Dr. Majid Eshqpour, Associate Professor of Maxillofacial Surgery, without using anesthetics for wisdom tooth extraction.

In this regard, Dr. Fathi states: In this surgery that was performed as part of the University approved research proposal, Hypnotic induction was performed on the patient by mental imagery induced Hypno-Analgesia, and then the patient underwent maxillofacial surgery by Dr. Eshqpour, Associate Professor of Maxillofacial Surgery, and the surgical team. This faculty member of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences noted: “In this surgery, tooth extraction was performed successfully after flap surgery”. According to Dr. Fathi “The patient had complete analgesia in all stages of the surgery, and no sign of pain was expressed by the patient during the following twenty four hours”. He added that this method can be effective on patients who, for any reason, have a contraindication to the use of anesthetics and encounter oral health problems as a result of extreme fear of dental procedures.
