Mashhad University of Medical Sciences won the National 3^rd top place of research, according to the assessment of Ministry of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education. According to Information Technology Vice-president of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, as reports by the latest ranking of the top national medical universities, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, with a 2-rank increase, got the 3^rd place after Tehran and Shahid Beheshti universities. As reported by Dr Taffaqodi, this ranking is due to research activities carried in 2014. He added that Health Minister, in its recent assessment, has put especial attention toward the quality of research activities considering the quality of health-oriented researches as well as their adaptation with international ranking indices of universities. In the recent assessment of research activities of universities, the rate of knowledge production and research infrastructures were considered so that Mashhad University of Medical Sciences managed to take the National 3^rd top place of research. Knowledge production rate taking the 90% of the total scores consists of some indices including number of published articles, the quality of articles (published articles in 25% of top journals of each field of study), academic articles resulted from international cooperation, and the frequency of being used as reference by other articles.
