The First Book on Pediatric Continuous Renal Replacement Composed by a Faculty Member of the University

The first book in the area of pediatric continuous renal replacement was composed and published in the Springer by a faculty member of the university.

The book “Pediatric Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy” was composed by Dr. Fatemeh Ghane a specialist in pediatric nephrology and associate professor of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences and was co-authored by Professor Farahnak Assadi, a prominent pediatric nephrology professor at Rush University by Springer Publishing in the U.S in January 2016, as reported by WebDa.

Dr. Fatemeh Ghane, a faculty member of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences and author of this book, stated: this books discuses continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) in children who suffer from kidney failure for one reason or another and do not have the general and cardiovascular conditions for a normal dialysis.

She said: this book consists of over 100 pages and several chapters and is regarded the first published book in this issue around the world which is published by Springer Publishing and on behalf of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.

Associate professor of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences pointed out that in this book mention have been made to all aspects of performing CRRT including selecting type of the patient, the catheter, type of solution, and full description of how to do this dialysis, and in the last chapter, several samples are presented to further elaborate on the issue for the readers.

Dr. Fatemeh Ghane continued: using CRRT dialysis is the best method for all critically ill patients who are regarded as suffering from acute kidney failure since this device homodializes the patient continuously and with low blood volume within 48 to 72 hours and has no effect on homodynamic conditions of an critically ill patient.

She reiterated: regarding the importance of this issue, a CRRT device is needed in all pediatric and adult ICU, heart and neurosurgery departments.

This book is now available in all international libraries.

A brief Overview of the book

This book provides a current understanding of Continuous Renal Replacement Therapies (CRRT) techniques with a focus on drug dosing in critically ill children receiving CRRT. Strategies include the role of therapeutic drug monitoring, effect of CRRT on drug pharmacokinetics, variations in the drugs properties, newer kidney injury biomarkers and simple and easy methods for estimating drug clearance. The conclusion of this book features case reports focused on the patients’ symptoms and laboratory data as they present in clinical practice and the type of CRRT modality needed to provide quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of patient care. Pediatric Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy will expand the clinical knowledge and experience of practicing nephrologists and other professionals involved in the care of children suffering from Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) to improve and sustain their quality of life
