Operationalization of Six Majors on Cognitive Sciences and Technologies in the Country

The supreme consultant of Cognitive Sciences and Technologies Development Headquarter of Science and Technology Administration of Presidential Foundation announced the operationalization of six majors in the field of cognitive sciences and technologies in the country and added: these majors include cognitive psychology, artificial intelligence, mind philosophy, cognitive linguistics, neurosciences and cognitive rehabilitation.

In an interview with news correspondents in the side meetings of the Seminar of Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences and Technologies in Mashhad, Dr. MohammadTaghi Joghtaei added: in the framework of the procedure under execution in the country, 20 thousand genius school students are going to be members of Cognitive Sciences and Technologies Development Headquarter. In this year also, 5,000 PhD students in the fields of Cognitive Technology, Medicine, Medical Assistance and Psychology are going to have membership in this headquarter.

He added: this measure is being undertaken along with the purpose of raising familiarity and acquaintance in school students and specialist university students about cognitive and behavioral sciences.

The supreme consultant of Cognitive Sciences and Technologies Development Headquarter of Science and Technology Administration of Presidential Foundation said: this headquarter was established three years ago to serve the purpose of developing science and technology in this scope and supporting research projects.

“Deep brain stimulation and superficial brain stimulation are among research projects on the scope of cognitive rehabilitation”, he added.

He considered the promotion and development of behavioral and cognitive sciences to be good and asserted: our country is currently in competition with Turkey. Furthermore, in some aspects of this field such as artificial intelligence and neurosciences, our country has superseded Turkey and South Korea.

The supreme consultant of Cognitive Sciences and Technologies Development Headquarter of Science and Technology Administration of Presidential Foundation stated: Iran has a great potential and capacity in the field of cognitive sciences.

“Establishing these centers, providing financial resources and executing big projects are the objectives in this regard”, he said, “In countries such as U.S., there is a huge investment on cognitive sciences in the country’s defense department”.

As Dr. Joghtaei put it, the final purpose of developing cognitive sciences is public welfare and comfort in various scopes like cognitive economy, cognitive management, cognitive instruments, medicine and education.

He said: behavioral and cognitive sciences are interrelated with various sciences such as medicine, engineering, economy and psychology, and have numerous applications in economy, management, society, defense and medicine.

It must be mentioned that the Seminar of Cognitive Sciences and Technologies with the Approach of Introducing Activities and Potentials of Khorasan Razavi Universities was held in Avicenna Psychiatry Hospital with the collaboration of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Research Center and Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.
