The scientists in Eye Refractive Disorders Research Institute of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences succeeded in designing visual acuity measuring glasses with various focus lens.

According to WebDa, with the endeavors of Dr. Abbas AzimiKhorasani, Dr. Hadi OstadiMoghadam, MohammadEbrahim Tavallaei, Ramin Yazdanparast and Mahdis Chamanara, this invention has been registered with registration number 37-888 in the patent office.

The visual acuity measuring glasses was invented using various focus lens and is considered as a precise instrument which accurately determines the eye number.

This instrument has only three lenses, in which the relative movement of two lenses with two different cuttings is used as an alternative for the function of 60 lenses in the optometry trial lens box.

Also the replacement of the third lens with a different sort of cutting is an alternative for the function of 40 other existing trial lenses in the optometry box.

In this way, by moving these three lenses, the eye number of the individuals inflicted with near-sightedness, far-sightedness and astigmatism will be determined.

This instrument’s function is similar to that of phoropter, retinoscope and trial frames that currently accompany the optometry lens box of ophthalmologists, with the difference that this instrument is smaller and possesses all features and capabilities in previously used equipment in one trial frame in which the three designed lenses are fitted. Therefore, it is easier to move and carry it, and economically, it is more beneficial.
