Built by Researchers at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences Have Reached the Production Stage

After laboratory and clinical tests and evaluation, Krocina tablets built by researchers at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences entered the production stage.

According to WebDa, this drug was designed and built at “Sina Pouyesh” knowledge based company with the efforts of Dr. Seyed Ahmad Mohajeri, member of Pharmacodynamics and Toxicology Department of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. The drug was clinically tested and underwent further laboratory tests and is now ready to produce.

During the first stage, 20 thousand Krocina tablets were produced by SamiSaz Company and distributed throughout pharmacy stores of Mashhad.

Dr. Seyed Ahmad Mohajeri added in regards to this unique drug: Krocina tablet contain crocin, the most important component of saffron, which for the first time, was produced with the cooperation of “Sina Pouyesh” company and “SamiSaz”. Clinical studies have indicated the beneficial therapeutic properties of crocin and saffron.

This member of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences Pharmacodynamics and Toxicology Department pointed out that crocin is a complementary drug with anti-depressant properties and mentioned that: clinical studies have indicated the therapeutic effects of crocin on depression, anxiety, and mental health of patients compared to placebo.

Dr. Mohajeri also stated that the drug was obtained from saffron and is considered the primary anti-oxidant agent of saffron, inheriting many of its therapeutic properties. He also noted that: among therapeutic effects of this drug are its effects on Alzheimer’s disease and memory recovery, increased vision in elderly people, prevention and treatment of retina disorders in diabetic patients, prevention and control of cancer, treatment of sexual dysfunction, control and moderation of blood sugar.

After pointing out that saffron is as effective as common chemical drugs on treatment of anxiety and control of Alzheimer’s diseases and mental disorders, Dr. Mohajeri added: one of the most important aspects of this drug, indicated during clinical experiments, is that it can decrease inflammation and retina thickness in patients suffering from diabetic retinopathy.

Dr. Seyed Ahmad Mohajeri stated: during this experiment, Krocina tablets were able to decrease HbA1C concentrations in diabetic patients for a period of 3 months and reduce retina inflammation and improve patient vision.

Member of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences Academic Staff added that: Krocina tablets have preventive and therapeutic effects on cardiovascular and brain disorders and complications, due to their strong anti-oxidant properties.

He stressed that: primary studies have also shown the effectiveness of crocin in treating inflammation diseases such as osteoarthritis.

Dr. Mohajer added that: researches have also shown that saffron can be extremely effective in treatment of obesity and can be used in weight reduction diets.

According to this researcher of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, there are currently many research projects being carried out on krocina tablets within Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. It is hoped that these researches will return positive results regarding the potential and therapeutic effects of this complementary drug.

Considering that saffron, as the source of this drug, is one of the most common local herbs of Khorasan Province, supporting the production of this drug and succeeding in the drug market can play a major role in resistive and knowledge based economy and bring the university closer to the world of industry.
