Dentistry Development and Promotion: a Significant Mission for

Mashhad University of Medical Sciences

Dr. Mohammadreza Darabi, the deputy of Educational Administration of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences considered the development and promotion of dentistry and the related sciences as one of the particular and significant missions for this university in Educational Revolution and Innovation Program.

According to WebDa, in the ceremony of the 50^th establishment anniversary of Dentistry School of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Darabi said: within 50 years of research, education and training performed in the School of Dentistry, numerous graduates in general and specialist studies are trained here and are currently working and offering services throughout the country which owes a lot to the efforts and endeavors of those who have established this school from the scratch in spite of all the problems and shortcomings.

Referring to the fact that the fourth step in Health System Revolutionizing Program is Educational Revolution and Innovation, communicated last year to all medical schools through the country, he emphasized: in this program, a special mission is defined and assigned to each university on the basis of its potential and capacity.

The deputy of Educational Administration of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences articulated the mission “dentistry development and promotion and the related sciences” as one of particular missions in this university and asserted: considering the educational capacities and elite faculty members in Mashhad School of Dentistry, this university is delegated to substantiate this mission. Along with this, specialist committees are set off to work.

Dr. Darabi expressed hopes that: with the assistance of all faculty members and by the revisions and reforms in the curricula, a more influential step will be taken towards training human resources, development and promotion of dentistry and elevating the country’s status in this domain.

Emphasizing that in the same line with the Islamic Republic system policies, the school of Dentistry in Mashhad University of Medical Sciences has so far undertaken the education and training of a great many of human resources, he stated: at the moment, this university has more than 100 faculty members and more than 500 students in various majors in specialist doctorate and subspecialist doctorate studies.

Talking of the fact that there has been no physical extension in the school of dentistry regardless of the increase in student admission capacity and educational majors, he emphasized on the provision of the necessary budget and credit by the Ministry of Health, Hygiene and Medical Education in order to extend this school. 

It should be mentioned that, the ceremony of the 50^th establishment anniversary of School of Dentistry in Mashhad University of Medical Sciences was held in the amphitheater of the School of Science and dentistry School featuring Dr. Larijani, the deputy of Educational Administration of the Ministry of Health, Hygiene and Medical Education, Dr. Peyvandi, the president of Tehran Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Asgari, the head of the Country’s Specialist Dentistry Council, Dr. Mehrabi Bahar, the president of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, and a group of directors, school chancellors, veterans, alumni and faculty members of this school.
